Step-by-Step
Your Proposal
Planning Guide
From ring safety to hiring a photographer, every detail covered so you can focus on the moment.
Choose Your Spot & Time
Decide between the Trocadéro (iconic backdrop), summit (dramatic altitude), or Champ de Mars (relaxed picnic). Sunset and the first sparkle show after dark are the most magical moments. Book summit tickets 60 days ahead if proposing up top.
Hire a Hidden Photographer
Professional proposal photographers in Paris position themselves as tourists and capture the moment candidly. Book 2–4 weeks in advance. Expect €250–€600 for a 30–60 minute session with edited digital files delivered within a week.
Protect the Ring
Never carry the ring box in a back pocket at a crowded tourist site. Use a front zippered pocket or an inside jacket pocket. Some planners use a decoy box and keep the real ring in a hotel safe until the last moment. Consider travel insurance for the ring.
Have a Weather Backup
Paris weather is unpredictable. If rain threatens your outdoor spot, Le Jules Verne restaurant, Musée de l'Homme terrace, or even a covered spot beneath the tower's first floor can save the day. Check forecasts 48 hours ahead and have Plan B ready.
